Trump: US to begin withdrawal from medium-range nuclear treaty
President Donald Trump on Friday said the U.S. is suspending its involvement in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. “For far too long, Russia has violated the treaty with impunity, covertly developing and fielding a prohibited missile system that poses a direct threat to our allies and troops abroad,” Trump said. The US will “suspend” INF Treaty obligations starting Saturday and begin withdrawing from the treaty over the course of six months, “unless Russia comes back into compliance by destroying all of its violating missiles, launchers and associated equipment.”
US media reported earlier that Russia had increased its M7299 medium-range nuclear missiles (NATO-code SSC-8) from three to four battalions. DEBKAfile’s military sources: The M7299 is a long-range nuclear cruise missile fired from ground bases with ranges from 500km to 5,500km
Treaties with Russia have about as much value as treaties with the USSR, all are lies meant to get the USA to comply so Putin can cheat and try and get the upper hand, showing that Russia has not grown up and is still the worlds antagonist to peace and safety, they still have not figured out how to do the correct and right thing.
