Turkey and Iran underwrite Syria’s “territorial integrity”

At a joint news conference on Friday in Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, vowed to keep their dialogue open “despite their differences.” They agreed to "keep closer contact" on the issue of the "territorial integrity of Syria.” DEBKAfile reports: The Turkish-Iranian statement rounded off the deal reached by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan for three-way collaboration on the Syrian issue when they met in St. Petersburg last Tuesday. Syria’s territorial integrity is a key issue for Moscow.
