Turkey shoots down Syrian plane

Turkey has shot down a Syrian plane near the Kasab crossing on the border with Syria. The plane crashed in the buffer zone between the borders separating Syria's Latakia region and Hatay's district, where fighting had been ongoing for three days, between fighters from the Al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front and other groups who have attacked the crossing and forced out Syrian forces.
