Turkish and Iranian presidents will try and prolong East Ghouta ceasefire

Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, who arrived in Ankara Wednesday, agreed to work together to gain an extension to 24 hours of the Russian-brokered five-hour daily truce in the embattled Syrian enclave of East Ghouta. DEBKAfile: It is hard to see them persuading the Russian-backed Syrian and Hizballah forces to stop fighting when they are winning the battle and have already gained 50-60 percent of the enclave’s territory.
