Turkish lira slumps after US sanctions over imprisoned pastor

The lira slumped to a record low against the dollar after the US Wednesday sanctioned two senior Turkish government officials over the continued detention of an American pastor. The sanctions target Turkey’s Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gul and Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu, both of whom “played leading roles in the organizations responsible for the arrest and detention of Pastor Andrew Brunson,” the US Treasury Department said in a statement.

DEBKA file: US sanctions against a fellow NATO member are unprecedented. On Thursday, Turkey’s four leading parties released a joint statement: “We say no to the US threats in common solidarity and determination of our nation.” The currency’s fall past 5 rials per US dollar will weigh heavily on Turkish industry which carries a $300 billion debt.

Turkey can become a great and good nation again if they hang Erdogan who looks, speaks, and acts exactly like Adolph Hitler may G-d erase both of their names. Turkey should also apologize for the Armenian and Kurdish genocides and their support of Nazi Iran. Under the leadership of Erdogan and his fascist dictatorship it makes total sense to sanction them!

Turkey should and will never apologize for Armenians and Kurds since Turkey’s struggle is with PKK which is world wide considered as a terorist org. That’s clear. The Armenian thing is complicated becase during the world wad both Turks and Armenians were killed but never in the form of a systemaic killing. The deportation of the Armenians was a result of their actions.

Get lost apologist. What your ‘leader’ is doing is WRONG. If you dont like Christians in your country – just kicked them out – its the muslim thing to do anyway – you people are intolerant. This Christian pastor should be just expelled. Anyway if commonsense doesnt show up soon, your country will suffer. Good. Such a shame for a once great nation, now just another muslim hegemony heading definitely downwards. Enjoy your ‘islam’.

Why would Washington give a shit about a pastor when they have removed Jesus from all schools and other institutions in the US ??
