Turkish man deported from Israel over suspected national security offenses
A 32-year-old Turkish citizen who was arrested upon arrival at Israel's Ben Gurion airport in September on suspicion of security-related offenses was deported on Wednesday following a three-week investigation. According to reports on Turkish social networks, Orhan Buyruk, who had already made several visits to Israel, was an operative of Iranian intelligence that had asked him to collect information on sensitive facilities and other sites in Jerusalem. Buyruk's Turkish lawyer denied that his client committed the offenses attributed to him, claiming that Buyruk only came to Israel to visit Muslim holy sites.
