Turkish PM to relinquish his post later this month
Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu announced Thursday that he is resigning from his post and that a successor will be named on May 22. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan welcomed his decision and wished him well. The two leaders had been at odds during the last year on how to deal with the Kurdish underground, with Erdogan pushing for a military solution and Davutoglu advocating talks with the PKK. They also had diferences on the issue of Israel, with the prime minister opposing the apparent softening of the president's position on a possible reconciliation.
