Turkish soldier killed, 10 wounded in car bombing of checkpoint

At least one Turkish soldier was killed, three were critically wounded and seven others sustained moderate to serious injuries when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in southeastern Turkey in the predawn hours of Wednesday morning. The Kurdish PKK underground carried out the attack. The blast at about 1:00 a.m. in Mardin province near a building with a police station also damaged many houses in the area.
