Turkish troops battle PKK around SE hydroelectric plant
The Turkish military Sunday launched an aerial campaign and land operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) after Kurdish fire killed a soldier and injured three other members of the gendarmerie forces guarding a hydroelectric plant in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır’s Kulp district. In the same province, three Kurdish mayors were arrested for announcing their autonomy. They were charged with “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state.”
