Twin blasts kill 40, injure 30 at Shiite center in west Kabul
At least 40 people were killed and 30 wounded in a double bomb attack on the Shiite Afghan Voice news agency in the capital, Kabul, on Thursday, claimed by the Islamic State. Deputy Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said women and students were among the casualties. They were taking part in a debate marking the 38th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. A suicide bomber wearing a vest caused the first blast; the second was caused by a sticky bomb the attacker had attached to a wall.
