Two French soldiers killed rescuing 4 foreign hostages in Burkina Faso

French special forces this week launched an operation in the West African country of Burkina Faso to rescue two French tourists snatched in neighboring Benin before they were handed over to Islamists in Mali. They were surprised to find the kidnappers also holding a US woman and a South Korean man. Two French soldiers were killed in a close-quarters fight with the abductors, 4 of whom were killed. Two escaped. Their identify has not been disclosed, although the jihadist groups operating in the area of the kidnap are linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.

Islamic State infection thrives there where there is no education and/or people are poor (or oppressed by Islamism like in Gaza or Iran)

If we hold the EU to their own Marxist standards which they apply quite liberally to Israel, all white people are oppressors and should not use unequal force to defend themselves or attack terrorists who are the oppressed. So in theory, the terrorists have cause to kidnap and kill Europeans and the Europeans and their allies have no business fighting back. that is the problem with political correctness – it looks good and is easy to demand when you are not in the direct path of barbarians who want to kill you and your people.

All credit to the French for doing the right thing. The 2 deaths in the line of duty are regrettable.

If this were an Israeli mission to rescue hostages from islamists, the French media would have painted a picture of moral equivalence between the good guys and the terrorists. By the end of the report we would all be sympathizing with the terrorists and asked for an investigation for “war crimes” against the soldiers going after the terrorists. The French media would have told us about how the terrorists have a justifiable cause for kidnapping, terrorizing and somewhere in the report have pointed out that the terrorists are fighting for their own beliefs and freedoms. I am very tired of the double standard when it comes to Europeans painting Israel as the oppressor that has no right defending its people (under constant Islamic attack) while Europeans deflect their mistreatment of of people in colonies-in-all-but-name they still maintain in Africa.
