Two Israeli soldiers killed in accidental explosion

An accidental grenade explosion at the Hermon outpost in northern Israel killed two members of the IDF 401st Brigade’s armored battalion and injured another three. Initial investigation of the grave mishap showed that the driver of the patrol jeep accidentally detonated the grenade. He was killed on the spot. The soldier beside him was critically injured and later died. They were identified as Sgt First Class Hussam Tapesh from Beit Jan and 20-year-old Sgt. Shlomo Rindenow from Kibbutz Sde Yoav, whose family lives in the US, The patrol’s commander was badly hurt and two other members were lightly injured. General Aviv Kochavi, OC Northern Command, has appointed a team of specialists to investigate the incident.
