Two Kenyan men charged with training by Iran for terror attacks

The two men charged Monday in a Nairobi court admitted they were trained by Iran’s Al Qods Brigades – claims denied by Tehran – in the Iraqi Shiite town of Karbala for the “commission of a terrorist act” in the Kenyan capital. When the two men were arrested a month ago, the police said, “We have irrefutable evidence that they were recruited into an Iranian spying ring and plotted terror attacks in Nairobi.” The Iranian embassy denied any links to the two Kenyan men. In May 2013, a Kenyan court sentenced two Iranians to life in prison on terror-related charges, including possessing explosives to be used in bomb attacks.
