Two killed in assassination attempt on Alexandria’s security chief

An explosion occurred Saturday in the Rushdi neighborhood of Egypt’s second city, Alexandria, near the motorcade of Maj.-Gen. Mostafa al-Nemir, head of security in the city. The suspected car bomb killed two people, a policeman and a driver, and wounded at least four others. The Ministry of Interior said the attack was an attempt on the life of al-Nemr by unnamed “extremists.”
