Two million people in southeastern US ordered to flee from mega-storm
Over two million people in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia have been told to evacuate with the approach of Hurricane Matthew, which has re-strengthened and is now a Category 4 storm. Matthew is expected to move very close to the east coast of Florida and possibly make landfall on Thursday night or early Friday morning. The state's governor, Rick Scott, said Thursday that "we have to prepare for a direct hit", adding that "if you need to evacuate and you haven't, evacuate. This storm will kill you. Time is running out. We don't have that much time left." According to the US National Hurricane Center, Matthew had winds ranging from 130 mph to 156 mph as of 11am eastern time. The storm is reported to have caused at least 29 deaths in the Caribbean.
