Two Palestinians suspects detained in Reuven Shmerling murder
Two men, residents of the Palestinian town of Kabatia, were detained Saturday by Israeli security officers on suspicion of murdering the late Reuven Shmerling, whose body was discovered Friday in the Israeli Arab town of Kafr Qassem, bearing signs of a severe beating. After committing the crime, the killers fled to the Palestinian town of Jenin where they turned themselves in to the Palestinian police. They were released after a few hours. DEBKAfile reports that Israeli security officers caught up with them Saturday at Hadad village near Jenin and arrested them. Under questioning, the pair admitted their motive was anti-Israel terror.
