UK and France to boycott Sochi G-8 summit
The two foreign ministers William Hague and Lauren Fabius said they had discontinued preparations for participation in the G-8 summit over Russia’s military invasion of Crimea. Hague arrived in Kiev Sunday to try and cool the interim government’s enthusiasm for a military clash with Russia and persuade it to co-opt pro-Russian Ukraine parties to the unity government. Former UK ambassador to Moscow Sir Tony Benton commented that the Kiev government is no national Ukrainian administration but a West Ukrainian regime representing only an anti-Russian constituency.
