UK PM calls an early election for June 8
British PM Theresa May announces she will call a general election to be held on June 8. She will put the motion to the House of Commons Wednesday. To be passed, it requires a two-third majority. May accused the opposition parties of maneuvers for blocking the government’s Brexit plans and so weakening its negotiating position. Those negotiations would reach their most critical stage at the same time as the next election in 2020.
She was therefore calling for an early election for the people to decide which vision it prefers.
