Ukraine forces launch large-scale operation to take Slavyansk

Pro-Russian separatists report a large-scale Ukrainian operation was launched early Friday to retake their E. Ukrainian stronghold of Slavyansk. This is confirmed by Western sources. Heavy gunfire has been heard in different parts of the town, followed by air raid sirens. The rebels claim to have shot down a Ukrainian army helicopter.
