Ultra-religious students rage against police in three towns
Ultra-Orthodox students raged against police again on Sunday over the government’s order to close all the country’s institutions of learning during the current lockdown. Some of the rabbis went along with the order while others decreed that the schools and yeshivot would staly open in defiance of the rules.. Officers were cornered and subjected to stones and abuse in three large ultra-Orthodox centers in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and Ashdod. Some of the cops suffered injuries and dozens of rioters were detained. In Bnei Brak, an officer for the first time fired in the air when the youths closed in on him. In Ashdod the students sat down on main roads and blocked them to traffic until they were forcibly removed.
