UN Secretary: Apply pressure to resolve Israeli-Palestinians conflict
In his state of the world address opening the UN General Assembly Monday, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said five countries hold the key to a political solution in Syria: Russia, the US, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran, and there can be no impunity for “atrocious crimes.” He urged the world to unite against the “blatant brutality” of extremist groups including the Islamic State. Ban also warned against “the dangerous drift” in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He called on the international community to pressure both sides to re-engage and slammed both Israeli settlement and Palestinian incitement. More speeches today by three presidents: Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Hassan Rouhani.
