UN sends experts to Rio to guard against ISIS dirty bomb attack
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has loaned hi-tech radiation monitors – including personal detectors and portable scanners – for use on the ground throughout the Olympic Games opening in Rio Saturday, Aug. 6 – in case ISIS tries to set off a dirty bomb attack. Troops in hazmat suits were seen Sunday rehearsing a dirty bomb attack outside the Brazilian National Stadium. Dozens of suspected ISIS adherents were rounded up in Brazil in recent weeks, but counterterrorism experts in the West fear that the authorities have not been thorough enough to ward off the terror threat to the games.
