Unconfirmed reports of foiled coup against ISIS chief
Syrian and Iraqi sources report that 13 leading members of the Islamic State were put to death by beheading for an attempted coup against Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The plan, foiled a few days in advance, was to target Baghdadi's convoy with improvised explosive devices south of the Syrian city of Raqqa and kill him," said an anonymous source from the Iraqi city of Mosul. It was hatched by leading members from Morocco, Syria, Yemen, and Kuwait, as well as a Chechen and a Kurd, who challenged Abu Bakr’s dictatorial style which had turned the Sharia Committee into a rubber stamp. It was betrayed by one of the plotters.
