Unidentified drone over Rio Olympics opening pageant

Although Brazil declared a no-fly zone for drones over Rio de Janeiro for the duration of the Olympic Games, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle was seen early Saturday, Aug. 6, (IST) hovering over the stadium. Major drone manufacturers such as DGI, were asked earlier to reset their products’ systems to preclude flights in Rio airspace. But DEBKAfile’s cyber experts say that the code barring certain air spaces is easy to override. The mystery drone over the Olympic stadium could have been sent by a terrorist organization to test Brazilian security readiness for an aerial attack.
