Unique intel trove from Hamas operative caught swimming to Israel
Izz al-Din Hussein, 24, a commander in Hamas’ shoulder-fired missile unit, was picked up by Israel troops trying to swim to the Israeli shore from the Gaza Strip some weeks ago and arrested. He told Shin Bet investigators that, as a member of the Hamas armed wing, he was responsible from 2016 for storing anti-aircraft missiles in his home and instructed to down an Israeli helicopter, killing the soldiers aboard or taking them prisoner. His special job included the study of Israeli Air Force aircraft, their movements and how they operate over Palestinian terrorist targets in Gaza. The captured terrorist took part in several Hamas attacks against Israel. The Shin Bet security service reports that Hussein proved to be an invaluable source of unique inside information about Hamas’ armed terrorist wing and its plans of attack.
