Unprecedented cyber attack shuts down Internet on US East Coast

A DDOS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) cyber attack Friday hit the Dyn Company, one of the largest regional server services in the region. The sites that crashed included Twitter, Spotify, PayPal, Reddit and The New York Times. The first attack ended after an hour-and-a-half. Two hours later, a second cyber attack struck many Internet sites on the Western Coast.
