Unprecedented security measures in Ankara as Saudi king arrives
The Turkish government implemented unprecedented security measures in Ankara on Monday as Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, accompanied by a delegation of 300 senior officials, arrived for a five-day visit. All of the windows of the Marriot hotel, where the king is staying, were replaced with bulletproof glass, and a concrete wall that can withstand bomb blasts was built in front of the entrance. Following a round of meetings in Ankara with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, King Salman will fly to Istanbul to take part in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Thursday and Friday.
