US accuses Iran of “nuclear extortion.” IRGC seizes SKorean tanker
A state department spokesperson Tuesday accused Iran of pursuing a “campaign of nuclear extortion” by resuming uranium enrichment to 20pc purity at its underground Fordow center. This is the most serious breach so far of the nuclear deal Iran signed in 2015 with six world powers.
In another development, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized a South Korean-flagged chemical tanker in the Gulf. Seoul demanded the vessel’s immediate release and warned that a South Korean anti-piracy unit stationed in the Strait of Hormuz has been dispatched to the area.
