“We would oppose anything designed to punish Israel or undermine Israel’s security,” said US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing Wednesday. But when asked if the US would exercise its veto against a Security Council resolution calling for a Palestinian state, she turned noncommittal saying she would not make “blanket declarations on hypothetical resolutions.”
