US ambassador to UN Haley arrives in Israel
US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley arrived in Israel early Wednesday morning for a three-day visit. She will meet Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin during the day as well as visit the Old City of Jerusalem including the Western Wall. Haley is also scheduled to fly in a helicopter over Israel's northern and southern borders, observe UN operations and meet with Palestinian leaders during her trip.
On Tuesday, in a speech at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, she said "It is essential that this council address its chronic anti-Israel bias if it is to have any credibility,” adding that the US is considering whether or not to remain a member of the UNHRC due to the body's bias against Israel as well as its failure to address many serious human rights crises. Haley was the first US ambassador to the UN to address the council.
