US B-52 bomber intercepted by Russian air force over int’l waters
A Russian Sukhoi-27 warplane intercepted a US B-52 bomber in international airspace over the Baltic Sea on Tuesday. The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the fighter "stayed at a safe distance" and escorted the bomber "for some time" before disengaging. A Pentagon spokeswoman said the B-52 was flying a routine mission supporting planned exercises in international airspace.
