US bans some electronic devices for travelers from 13 Arab countries
US Homeland Secretary John Kelly has informed congress of a new order banning air travelers from 13 Middle East countries, including Jordan and Saudi Arabia, from carrying electronic devices aboard flights to the United States. It applies to devices larger than cell phones and medical devices, such as laptops, tablets, e-readers and cameras. Security sources attribute the ban to an increased volume of chatter suggesting that Al Qaeda and other groups are still looking for ways to sneak explosive materials onboard planes.
