US bars Poland’s offer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday that Poland’s proposal to deliver MiG-29 jets to the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany for use by Ukraine raised the concerning prospect of jets departing from a US and NATO base to fly into airspace contested with Russia in the Ukraine war. The US is concerned to avoid military involvement in a war with Russia. At the same time, President Joe Biden announced a ban on US imports of Russian oil and gas, in close coordination with NATO allies.
