US Congress rejects Iran nuclear deal in symbolic vote

By a large majority of 269 to 162, US Congress rejected the nuclear deal with Iran. Barack Obama did not need congressional approval for the deal he promoted because it had already been validated by the UN Security Council. The vote nonetheless carried moral weight and expressed a majority of US popular opinion which opposes the accord.
