US coronavirus deaths hit daily record

The US recorded 1,736 deaths on Tuesday, its highest number in a single day, bringing the total number of fatalities in America to 12,722. The US has more than 398,000 confirmed cases, the highest in the world.  Deaths from the virus in France have topped 10,000. making that country the fourth to to cross that threshold after Italy, Spain and the US. Confirmed global cases now exceed 1.4 million.
