US defense secretary offers attack helicopters to Iraqi army
US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter called Wednesday on Washington's strategic partners in the war against ISIS to increase their military operations against the terrorist organization. At a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he offered to provide the Iraqi military with advanced US attack helicopters and military advisors to "finish the job" of recapturing the city of Ramadi that fell into the hands of ISIS in May. He also said that "it's time for Russia to focus on the right side" of the war against ISIS, as Moscow has vowed to defeat the terrorist organization but "has instead largely attacked opposition forces."
