US Democrats put Jerusalem back on platform after furor

Barack Obama’s party restored “Jerusalem as capital of Israel” to its platform Wednesday night in response to loud protests from Jewish leaders and Republican criticism over sudden deletion of the avowal in favor of determining the city’s status in “final status Israel-Palestinian negotiations.” However, another anti-Israel amendment remained: The one dropping from the Democratic platform the US commitment to Israel’s "qualitative military edge in the Middle East."
