US drone kills Pakistani Taliban deputy chief

Security officials told Reuter that the US drone attack on Waziristan Wednesday killed Wali-Ur-Rehman,  the second-in- command of the Pakistan Taliban, and six others. Wali-ur-Rehman was poised to succeed Hakimullah Mehsud as the leader of the Pakistani Taliban. The drone strike, the first after Pakistan’s May 11 election in which US drone warfare was a major issue, was also the first since President Obama announced limitations on the US drone program.
