US drops MOAB, biggest non-nuclear bomb in its arsenal, in Afghanistan
The US has just dropped a 21,000lb bomb, the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal and the first time ever used in combat in Afghanistan in the Nangathar Province north of Kabul. This is where a Special Forces (Green Beret) solider died of injuries from enemy small fire while his unit was conducting counter-ISIS operations. For comparison, a Tomahawk cruise missile has a 1,000lb warhead. The bomb is capable of taking out tunnels and causing destruction over a large area. No statement yet from the White House. It sends as a strong message to ISIS everywhere and North Korea on the eve of its anniversary celebrations. MOAB is nicknamed “Mother of All Bombs”
