US embassy issues a travel warning for northern Golan

The US embassy Wednesday advised US citizens to "carefully consider and possibly defer travel" to the northern Golan "until the situation stabilizes."  All US government employees were temporarily prohibited from personal travel north of Route 87 and east of Route 918 on the Golan. 
In the last 10 days, around mortar shells landed on the Israeli side of the Golan border from Syrian battles around Quneitra.
