US envoy: Any ISIS fighters left in Mosul will die

Brett McGurk, the senior US official in the counter-ISIS coalition, warned Sunday that any jihadists fighters left in Mosul would die there since the ninth Iraqi army division had cut off the last road out of the city and trapped them there. No more than 2,500 jihadists are believed remaining in Mosul and Tal Afar, according to a US defense official. It is thought there may be as many as 600,000 civilians still trapped in ISIS-controlled areas of Mosul. A mass grave was discovered over the weekend containing the remains of hundreds of "civilian prisoners” who were executed by ISIS gangs.
