US envoy calls second meeting in 48 hours with Israel’s leaders

US Ambassador David Friedman was due on Monday to continue the discussion he began on Sunday with PM Binyamin Netanyahu, Alternate PM Benny Gantz, FM Gaby Ashkenazi and Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin. The discussion turned inter alia on bridging the differences between the two prime ministers on the measure of the sovereignty Netanyahu plans to extend to the West Bank as of July 1. The same forum plans to meet again soon, indicating that no progress remains elusive.  See DEBKAfile Special Report.

At a closed session of the Likud Knesset faction, Netanyahu said he had no plans to bring the Trump Mid-East peace plan before the house for endorsement. In answer to a question, he said he has no knowledge of where Kahol Lvan leaders stand on his annexation plan.
