US envoys in Mid East to drum up support for Bahrain event
Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE have confirmed their attendance at the June 25-26 conference in Manama, Bahrain, at which President Trump’s peace envoy Jared Kushner will unveil the economic chapter of Trump’s Mid East peace plan and seek investments. Kushner and special envoy Jason Greenblatt hope to persuade the kings of Morocco and Amman to send delegates to Bahrain, although the Palestinians are boycotting the event. Russia and China will not attend. The US delegation, which includes Brian Hook, special US envoy on Iran, is due in Jerusalem on Thursday, by which time Israel’s political situation will be clear.
Meanwhile, as tensions across the Persian Gulf remain high, US National Security Adviser John Bolton tweeted he had arrived in the Emirates for meetings on Wednesday “to discuss important and timely regional security matters.”
If Trump could just get a half dozen small factories, . . . capitalistic, employee laden, publicly traded, . . . in each of those countries, . . . let the people see what having a job, income, and personal achievement really are, . . . they just might toss the guns and bombs for a better life.
