US Federal Reserve raises interest rates by 0.25%

The US Federal Reserve, meeting for the first time under Chairman Jerome Powell, raised interest rates Wednesday by a quarter of a percentage point and forecast two more hikes this year. Confidence was expressed by the Fed officials in an improving economic outlook.
