US forces capture Al Qaeda man in Libya, also Somalia raid
In Tripoli, Libya, US special forces Saturday night captured Al Qaeda’s Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai aka Anas al-Libi, sought for 15 years for the 1998 attacks on the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. They swooped on a house in Tripoli in three vehicles and carried the suspect off before flying him to the United States.
Also before dawn, Navy SEALs raided the hideout of the Shabaab leader believed to have masterminded the group's deadly attack last month on a shopping mall in Kenya, two US officials said. The commandos landing by sea stormed a beachfront house at Baraawe, south of Mogadishu. A number of Al Shabaab terrorists were killed, but the target of the raid was not there.
