US grounds F-35 stealth fighter fleet, followed by Israel Air Force
The US military has temporarily grounded its entire fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets in the wake of a crash in South Carolina last month of an F-35B aircraft. The pilot ejected safely but the aircraft was totaled. Inspections are to be carried out on faulty fuel tubes and are expected to be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours.” Israel and the UK have also grounded their F-35s although they are of different types from the one that crashed. The Lockheed stealth fighter was first used in combat by Israel earlier this year to conduct two air strikes over Syria.
