US in first aerial action over Tikrit

US aircraft began bombing ISIS positions in Tikrit early Thursday, as DEBKAfile predicted a few hours earlier, in support of the Iranian-led Iraqi operation which had failed to dislodge the Islamic State from the city in two weeks of fighting.
