US-Iraeli differences on Iran wide as ever

Our Washington sources dismiss the reported narrowing of the differences between the Obama administration and Israel on Iran’s nuclear program. This claim is said to be wide of the mark. The Netanyahu government remains deeply concerned by Washington’s tendency to ease up on pressure for Tehran to rescind its nuclear weapons projects. Our sources also refer to US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s remarks, that Benjamin Netanyahu’s threats against the Islamic Republic along with the economic sanctions pushed Tehran to engage in the talks over its nuclear energy program. They say Hagel’s comments were “prearranged” to soften Israel’s objections before Secretary of State John Kerry faces Netanyahu in Jerusalem Wednesday.
DEBKAfile’s sources also reject reports of a 60-day moratorium agreed by four major American Jewish organization including AIPAC on the campaign in Congress for tighter sanctions, in response to a request from Israeli prime minister.
