US issues warrant to seize Iranian oil tanker released by Gibraltar

Defying the US, a Gibraltar court on Thursday ordered the release of the Iranian tanker seized two weeks ago with oil bound for Syria – against Iran’s assurances that Grace 1 would not sail to countries “subject to European Union sanctions” – that is, Syria. Gibraltar will allow the vessel to leave “as soon as the logistics are figured out: – today or tomorrow.” The US warrant orders the Grace 1 and the oil aboard to be seized along with $995,000 from an account at an unnamed US bank linked to Paradise Global Trading LLC, an Iranian company. “A network of front companies allegedly laundered millions of dollars in support of such shipments,” Federal prosecutor Jessie Liu said.

She added the parties involved were linked with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which the US regards as a foreign terrorist organization.

Yeah, the bad UN drops embargoes too easily! Like for example on our great Iran there are so many, no ayatollah here takes it seriously to read or know about.

The US must pursue an active and aggressive agenda with respect to Iran. The Iranian agenda extends beyond the Middle East and must be dealt with before it is unmanageable. Apparently Israel is doing it’s part by bombing Iranian installations and storehouses in Syria, and not caring one bit if Revolutionary Guards are killed.

Let it leave Gibralter, . . . there are some deep holes in the Med where a tanker could trip and fall into one of those, . . . never be seen again. Sometimes those tankers just trip over a wayward submarine or something like that.

      Ratcheting up.

Iraq closing ranks with Iran. Timidity will be encouraged by EU and other Arab States round about Israel will get ready to jump to safety, they think…

Russia probably will sidestep the bull after several years of furious cape waving. China steps up Cyberwarfare; goes after Formosa?

American penchant for solid state frosting for motor transport and planned driverless trucking suggests de minimus railway fallback into food growing districts be reestablished?

      With 2.1 million barrels inside?
This is 13,200,000 m3, or a cube little larger that 250 yards full of oil.
Exon Valdez oil spill disaster was generated by only a “mere” 41,000 m3.
After a spill 300 times larger than Exon Valdez – and in a closed sea – all Israel beaches go black for years.

If it were not for the environmental damage you describe, I would send a knock knock drone to it, give the crew 25 min to vacate and use as naval target practice, let my planes, subs, gunboats, use for training sessions.

In fact we might need NATO to take over the ship, drive it out of Med, and actively interdict any large tanker (Iranian or anyone’s else) getting into the Med. This tanker is very very dangerous as long as it navigates in Med under the hands of Iran.
