US Navy Tomahawks destroy Iranian-Houthi radar stations in Yemen

The US Navy destroyer USS Nitze launched Tomahawk cruise missiles early Thursday against three Yemeni coastal radar stations, after missiles supplied by Iran to Yemeni Houthi rebels were fired at US naval vessels  off the Yemeni coast. Initial assessments indicate that all three targets, north of the Bab al-Mandeb strait, were destroyed, the US official said.

"Destroying these radar sites will degrade their ability to track and target ships in the future. These radars were active during previous attacks and attempted attacks on ships in the Red Sea, including last week's attack on the USA-flagged vessel "Swift-2", and during attempted attacks on USS Mason and other ships as recently as yesterday, DEBKAfile reported earlier on the Iranian bid for domination of the Red Sea routes challenged by a US flotilla and the types of advanced missiles Iran had sent its Houthi proxy earlier this month.
